Curriculum

The vision statement for St. Mary’s Cathedral School asserts that “Inspired by our Catholic tradition, St. Mary’s Cathedral School strives to nurture children to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens devoted to Christ.”

With this vision in mind, St. Mary’s Cathedral School strives for high standards of Catholic education by following the curriculum guidelines and standards of the Diocese of Dallas for Religion and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for all other subjects. These curriculum standards meet both national and state educational requirements.  We also follow directives and directives proposed by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (TCCED).

SMCS curriculum includes: Religion, Language Arts (English, grammar, reading, spelling, and phonics), Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Spanish, Health, Physical Education, and Technology.

St. Mary’s Cathedral School teachers infuse daily learning opportunities to grow not only academically, but spiritually as well through activities designed to develop higher order thinking skills intended to challenge students to perform to the best of their abilities. With our enrollment at approximately 220 students, we are able to provide smaller class sizes, not exceeding 20 students. This, in turn, allows our teachers to differentiate their instruction, striving to meet the needs of all learners in their classroom.

As a faculty we set the goal to model, encourage, and create a school culture that is learner centered,  based on high expectations, and continuous improvement.

Our talented and dedicated faculty truly strives to provide a quality education in an atmosphere of love on a daily basis.

Thank you for trusting us with your students.
