Welcome from our Principal

Welcome to St. Mary’s Cathedral School where for over a century the gift of a Catholic education has been esteemed in the community of Amarillo, TX.  Our SMCS family is honored that you have entrusted us with the religious and academic education of your child. The mission of St. Mary’s Cathedral School is to provide academic excellence and foster Catholic identity by learning in Christ with our hearts, souls, and minds.  Our new Vision Statement reads: Inspired by our Catholic tradition, St. Mary’s Cathedral School strives to nurture children to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens devoted to Christ.  These statements clearly state who we are and who we aspire to be as a school community.

We are proud to provide a quality Catholic education for students in Montessori Preschool through Fifth Grade.  As a ministry of St. Mary’s Parish, we offer an educational tradition that is rich in faith, focused on academic rigor, and blessed with an active, involved parent community.

We have a wonderful group of teachers and staff that work hand-in-hand with families to provide a well-rounded foundation of spirituality and academics for student success.  St. Mary’s students encounter Christ through daily prayer, weekly Mass, reconciliation, preparation for Sacraments, and liturgical events. They find a deeper meaning of a faith filled community.  They know that at St. Mary’s Cathedral School we are on Holy Ground and that God is the center of their lives and will remain protected under His care.

We hope you take the time to explore our website, tour our campus, and meet our students and teachers.  Located just blocks from downtown Amarillo, we believe you will enjoy the rich heritage of our campus and church, the warmth of our staff members, and the enthusiasm of our amazing students.  We are a family that knows God, loves God, and serves God.

Thank you for your interest in St. Mary’s Cathedral School.  If you are considering giving your child the gift of Catholic education, we hope you will choose to become a part of SMCS family.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have further questions about our school or the admission process.  We look forward to welcoming you into our community at this very important time in your child’s faith journey and intellectual development.
